The Stacy Shawl

How about a shawl made from two strands of lace weight yarn (100% alpaca, no less) and knitted from one end to the other?

The lace edging and a turned cable border along the neck are knit at the same time as the body with no finishing required, other than weaving in the ends.

This is an original design created for Stacy of The Knitting Nest in Austin, Texas.

On Sunday, August 8th, I will be teaching a class on the Stacy Shawl from 2:00 - 4:00 p.m.  If you are interested, please give Stacy a call (512-291-8866) to sign up!

After August 8, 2010, the Stacy Shawl pattern will be available in .pdf form. More details to come!

That's beautiful! And I've never seen a cable right on the top edge like that. Very creative! Would love to see more close-up pics of the lace edge and the ends.
You're so smart!!!

Thank you, ladies!!

The neat thing about the shawl, in addition to its construction, is that it can be knit in any weight yarn. I'm about to work on a worsted version that will be bigger and function as a neat wrap!

Michele, you have a place to stay, we'll call you teacher's pet!

Degree of difficulty would probably be advanced beginner. Stitches include k, p, yo, ssk, k2tog, and C4F. I will be covering gauge, life lines, and blocking, too!

Okay I've done all those stitches except the C4F (or haven't intentionally done it that I know of!). I'm still a beginner but welcome the challenge!
Teacher's pet,,,,you are too much! *LOL*

Shall I book your room?

; )

C4F is cable-speak. Slip two stitches onto a cable needle, hold in front, knit two from left hand needle, then knit two from the cable needle.

There is also a knit 3 together, but no big deal.

That is all!
