A new shawl!

In just a couple of weeks, one of my patterns will be published in a new book with the super sexy title of 60 Quick Knits from America's Yarn Shops!

The original name for this piece was the Miss Amanda Shawl; however, the book publishers unilaterally dubbed it a rather unexciting: Lace Edged Shawl.

Name change notwithstanding, I am very proud to present this new release:

This shawl is knit from side to side in worsted or light worsted weight yarn; however, as with most of my designs, almost any weight of yarn can be substituted.  A couple of the features of this design is that the lace edging is knit simultaneously with the body, all in one piece, so no seaming!  In addition, there is cable detailing at the top to prevent the shawl from rolling when worn.

This version is knit is Malabrigo Merino Marine for the body and Madelinetosh dk in Grasshopper for the lace.  This is actually a really quick knit.  I started the one above on a Monday evening and by Sunday afternoon, I was binding off and soaking it for blocking.

My lovely test knitter, Miss Helen, knitted this one in Miss Babs Yowza in Dragonfish for the body and Springtree Road Eulela in Silver Screen (a 50/50 merino/silk blend with a lovely sheen).

The original was knit in yarn selected and provided by the editors of 60 Quick Knits:  Cascade 220 in Coral for the body and Tomato for the edging.

My favorite colors for this shawl are shown above in Miss Babs Yowza Deep Teal for the body and Plum for the edging.
